London Drawing (Day 9)

The last few days have been crazy to say the least, so I'm a bit behind. SORRY AVID READERS! (mom)

On Monday I ventured around by myself one last time. I went to the Tate Britain because art is a thing people like.

what's that?
oh I see!

lawning

yawning

pish posh
definitely the minor demographic

Typically, art can be really boring if you're not graced with the "third eye" or "attention span", so what I have composed for you today is "Fool's Art", or "Spiced-Up Art" (patent pending).

before.... (SUCH BEAUTY)
after! (MORE BEAUTY!)

before... (THE EMOTIONS)

after! (WHAT CHEER!)
before... (Francis Bacon you weirdo)
after! (Caroline Holmes you weirdo)

after! (she accepts herself)
before... (I'm puzzled)

after! (see how much better that is?)

I really tried (before any staff/connoisseurs saw me); wearing glasses to pretend I'm smart

They also had this spacious hall with these strange geometric blocks? Ooh art:

After I got kicked out (just kidding), I saw the best art I had seen all day! (just kidding)

whomping willows!!!

When Natalie got off work, we had dinner at a quaint Italian cafe (are you starting to see a trend here) called La Cafe Divina:

London Yawning (Day 8)

The final days of London have begun! The feast of the Epiphany was well-spent and well-caffeinated. After Mass, my sister and I got coffee (always) at the Coffee House,

coffee please
that included a cool quote:

I honestly need more coffee
We caught a bus to Shoreditch where we spent the afternoon and too much money at Spitalfields Market.

possibly my favorite statue ever
no, really
you've goat to be kidding me
not as cool as the goat

ft. no goats

Oh right, we got more coffee.

stars in your multitude
scarce to be counted

filling the darkness
IT'S ALWAYS CHRISTMAS

with order and liiight (ok I'm done with les mis)
When our pockets were empty and hands full of bags, we went to see La Boheme at a local theatre in the back of a pub:

a little too close to the stage
front row and 3rd coffee of the day

What's amazing was that after a couple scenes, they ushered us out and into the pub for a scene change...except that the scene change was really the next scene taking place at the bar! The actors sang in the crowd and climbed the bar and flirted with the audience (terrifying) but it was quite entertaining and unique and I can never go to a show again.

la boheme hem I'm talking here

London Applauding (Day 7)

Today it was rainy and cold and everything I expected London to be (wonderful, lively, polite). First and foremost,

any demon barbers out today?
After a very long commute, we finally arrived at Notting Hill,

mushrooms!
where we (well, I) immediately got a UFO-sized crepe!

it's a bird, it's a plane, it's a crepe!
greedy-eyed and cold

cold, wet, and happy
Portobello Road actually winds for about two miles, so there was lots to see (don't think we actually walked the whole road). What was really cool was we saw where George Orwell lived! Remember that building I said was in Batman? Well, apparently ol' Georgie modeled the Ministry of Truth off it. Cool, amirite?

moving here immediately (for the crepes)
After we were chilled to the bone, we hopped on the tube to Leicester Square. And when I say we, I mean Natalie, because some slow-as-molasses hoodlum got in my way and I missed the train. Crying, crying, crying for the rest of my life. It's okay, we were reunited at the next stop, but I saw you laughing, guy-who-caught-the-train.

ft. fast sister who catches all trains
Once at our destination, we spotted a delicious restaurant in Chinatown called the Golden Phoenix where I ate the most delectable duck plucked right from the pond.

wait, what's he having

mmm, stuffed
We went back to the same cafe we had coffee and tiramisu, this time indulging in a cappuccino:

praise the Italians

Did I mention we managed to scrounge up two cheapo standing tickets to a full house of Les Mis? Well, we did! And off we went.

!!!!!!!!
If you were unsure what standing tickets are, they're last-minute tickets given to procrastinators (or spontaneous people) to stand in the back of the balcony. For the price we got, I'll take it any day.

not a bad view for £13
Needless to say (but I'll say it anyway), it was amazing beyond compare. The stage floor rotated; need I say more?

we are not miserable
I'm actually part of the play
and I thought I had a big head

I'm seeing triple
